So, you would like to become an MOT Tester? There are specific steps for anyone who wants to be able to carry out MOT Tests.
ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?
The first thing you need to do is make sure you are eligible. You will need to achieve a status as a Nominated Tester (NT). This is the title of someone that is authorised to perform MOT Tests.
All candidates wishing to become an MOT testers must have:
- have a current and full UK Driving Licence.
- be nominated by an Authorised Examiner. If you don’t have a sponsor then “The MOT Tester training company” can sponsor you.
- be a skilled as a mechanic with at least 4 years full-time employment in the service and repair of the vehicle.
- have no ‘unspent’ convictions for criminal offences connected with the MOT Testing Scheme or the motor trade, or involving acts of violence or intimidation.
- Must have good communication skills.
OK So Im eligible what next?
The first step is you need our IMI Light Vehicle Inspection Techician L3 qualification / accreditation.. You need no previous qualifications to take this course , but you do require 4 years experience working on cars to become an MOT Tester.
If you already have a suitable level 3 qualification you only need a sponsor to nominate you for the stage 2 training course (Award in MOT Testing) that every MOT Tester in the UK has to now attend.
If not then you will first need to complete our IMI Light Vehicle Inspection Training and Assessment, (see price list for details).
The MOT Tester Training Company will give you everything you need to become a successful MOT Tester and gain your Level 3 Qualification at a Light Vehicle Inspection technician.
You will then undertake the stage 2 Award in MOT Testing and will come back to us for a full days 1-1 Final MOT Routine training day 24 hours before your Final VOSA/ DVSA Vehicle Examiner Observation where you will be inspected completing an MOT, if you make less than 3 mistakes congratulations you will have your MOT License!
